Coaching for Children & Young People
A calm, supportive space for children and young people with ADHD.
A calm, supportive space for children and young people with ADHD to understand themselves and build confidence.
A warm, strengths-based approach
Children and young people with ADHD often experience the world more intensely emotionally, mentally, and socially. Many try hard to fit in, manage expectations, and keep going, even when things feel confusing or overwhelming inside.
ADHD coaching offers a calm, supportive, safe space where children and young people can begin to understand themselves, build confidence and self-esteem, and develop skills that genuinely work for their ADHD brain.
This is not about fixing or changing who they are. It’s about helping them feel understood, supported, and more confident in navigating everyday life.
How ADHD coaching can help
ADHD coaching is not about correcting behaviour or pushing children to fit in. It focuses on understanding how each child’s brain works and supporting them to develop skills with self-compassion and curiosity.
Coaching can support children and young people to:
- Understand their ADHD in a strengths-based way
- Make sense of their thoughts, feelings, and reactions
- Build confidence and self-esteem
- Explore masking and its impact
- Develop skills around organisation, focus, and getting started
- Understand feelings of overwhelm and anxiety
- Develop emotional awareness and regulation
- Build communication and self-advocacy skills
Age-appropriate ADHD psychoeducation is gently woven into sessions, helping children and young people reduce self-blame, feel more informed, and feel more empowered.
My approach
My approach is:
- Strengths-based – focusing on what is already working
- Neuroaffirming – respecting difference rather than trying to change it
- Child-centred – led by the child or young person’s pace, interests, and needs
- Flexible and creative – adapting sessions to suit how each child communicates and processes information
I bring together ADHD-specific coaching skills, emotions coaching, evidence-informed practice, and my lived experience as a neurodivergent adult and parent carer.
Sessions are shaped around the individual child or young person, not a fixed framework.
LEGO®-based coaching (optional)
I am a qualified LEGO® coach and, where it feels helpful, I can weave LEGO-based coaching into sessions.
Using LEGO can make sessions more engaging and playful, particularly for children who find talking difficult. It can help children express thoughts and emotions visually, explore challenges safely, and stay focused while learning new skills.
LEGO is always used purposefully within a coaching framework and adapted to the child or young person’s preferences.
Working with parents & carers
Parents and carers play an important role in supporting change.
With consent and clear boundaries, I may share themes or strategies from sessions to help support skills at home, while always respecting the child or young person’s voice, autonomy, and confidentiality.
